Igor Butman Big Band

The best jazz orchestra of Russia. A ten and a half splendid jazz musicians. It s all about Igor Butman Big Band, which was founded 10 years ago by a renowned saxophone player Igor Butman and arranger Vitaly Dolgov. Since 1999 Big Band has frequently toured Russia, Europe, and the USA, appearing at the world s most prestigious jazz venues, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Birdland and others.

Gregory Porter discovered the music of Nat King Cole through his mother. At the age of five he wrote a song called Once Upon A Time, I Had A Dreamboat and recorded it onto a tape. When his mother returned home from work and heard it, she exclaimed in amazement Boy, you sound like Nat King Cole. From that moment on, Gregory had a desire to know more about this man and his music, and spent hours playing his mother s old Cole records on his plastic Playskool record player.

Valery Grokhovsky Trio

Born in Moscow, Russia, Valeri Grohovski received his musical training and doctorate from the prestigious Gnessin Music schools. After winning a national piano competition in the former U.S.S.R. he was permitted to compete abroad where he proceeded to win numerous competitions in both Europe and the United States. Valeri Grohovski has performed extensively around the world, awing audiences with his unique combination of formidable classical repertoire and his virtuoso jazz improvisations.

Oleg Butman's band "Jazz Passion"

Oleg Butman was born in 1966 to a family of musicians in Saint-Petersburg (Russia) absorbing jazz sound and beat from his first days. Oleg started playing the drums at the age of 8. As early as at 15 he was invited to join a famous Russian rock-group Televizor. 
In 1983 Oleg entered Musorgsky music college (St.Petersburg) and became a leading drummer of the college orchestra. In his first year at college Oleg performed at St.Petersburg jazz festival Autumn Rhythm (with a band of the famous Russian sax-player Valery Zuikov). The 17-year old drummer attracted attention of David Goloshekin, a legendary Russian jazzman. During 1984 thru 1987 Oleg also performed with Igor Butman quartet and later in 1988 toured Russia with mesmerizing American sax player Richie Cole.
